The San Juan de Dios Hospital, a historical landmark and iconic healthcare center in Bogotá, is undergoing restoration and modernization as part of an ambitious plan to transform the complex into a Level IV University Hospital. The renewed facility will host spaces for medical care, scientific research, and academic training. The intervention covers 24 heritage buildings, following the guidelines of the Special Management and Protection Plan (PEMP), and incorporates BIM methodologies to digitize the construction process, enhance traceability, and optimize technical coordination. The project aims to partially reopen by 2027, integrating sustainability, historical preservation, and cutting-edge technology, with a joint effort from the National Government, the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá, and the Ministry of Culture.
